This advanced three-day workshop offers psychologists a rare opportunity to develop specialised skills in the assessment and management of patients with disorders of consciousness, including coma, vegetative, and minimally conscious states. This is a critically underdeveloped and often neglected area of practice in South Africa, where many patients receive limited specialised neuropsychological input despite complex rehabilitation needs.

Through a combination of practical training, clinical case exposure and expert guidance, participants will learn how to make more accurate diagnostic distinctions, contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary care and support the recovery and dignity of patients with severe brain injuries. This course is particularly valuable for psychology clinicians who wish to expand their scope of practice and play a vital role in improving care for one of the most vulnerable and underserved patient group.
