Alexithymia is the inability to recognise or describe one’s own emotions. It has been implicated in Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and has implications for treatment. By doing this mini course, psychology professionals will will learn about the state of the science on alexithymia, the functional deficits and neural correlates associated with it, and find out about a potential, brief (three-week), effective psychotherapeutic treatment.

It has been implicated in Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and has implications for treatment. By doing this mini course, psychology professionals will will learn about the state of the science on alexithymia, the functional deficits and neural correlates associated with it, and find out about a potential, brief (three-week), effective psychotherapeutic treatment.
To successfully complete this Neuropsychology SA Mini Course, participants are required to read specific articles (the links to the articles will be provided), answer the multiple choice questions based on them with at least 80% correct, and submit their answers by no later than 30 November 2025.
