High Court decision regarding psychological tests

On 15 August 2017, the HPCSA commented on the decision of the High Court to declare as invalid, and to set aside, section 4 of the Employment Equity Amendment Act, 2013.  The HPCSA indicated in their media statement that “This, effectively means that, for now, psychological testing or similar assessment on an employee do not need to be certified by the Health Professions Council of South Africa.”

Whether or not this applies in the non-employment arena, such as in the field of neuropsychology, is being considered by the HPCSA.
